As you’ve likely noticed from my Instagram, I recently visited Cuba. I was there for a week and was able to split my time between three beautiful cities: Trinidad, Havana, and Viñales. It was an unforgettable experience; one I know I will be talking about for years, and I will be sharing more about it here in the coming weeks.
Today I’m featuring some of my favorite outfits from my time there (including links to items still available). They are four distinctly different looks that showcase my diverse style with the common denominator being my ever present penchant for color. If I had to describe my vacation style though, I would simply sum it up as “comfortably chic.” I love to be comfortable first and foremost, but being stylish is also nonnegotiable. I prefer free-flowing and fluid pieces to keep cool in tropical climates… which is actually my style preference in general. You’ll very rarely find me in extremely fitted numbers. I’m more of a flowy/relaxed-fit kind of girl!
THE TROPICAL LOOK
If there’s any item of clothing that says island style, it’s definitely a cocktail-printed top… right? Yep, that’s what I thought! This bright and cheery tropical look made for the perfect little number to roam the streets of Trinidad, Cuba. It blended right in with the rainbow color palette of this picturesque colonial town.
Palazzo pants have been making their way to my suitcase lately. I travel with at least one pair on my vacations. These ones have become my favorite because they are extremely lightweight and I’m in love with the bright and bold yellow color.

THE TRENDY LOOK
This look was featured in last week’s style post which highlighted my love for the pom-pom trend. It’s such a fun look filled with beautiful design details. Though the dress is quite gorgeous on its own (in love with the sleeves), it’s the combination of colorful accessories that really make this a chic vacation look. From the bold print of the sunglasses… to the multicolored pom-pom sandals, each accessory adds a little bit of island flavor.

THE COOL & CASUAL LOOK
A day walking around Old Havana definitely requires comfortable wear. Therefore sneakers were in order.
To me, white chucks are so dope! They have been my go-to weekend style all summer long, and they are great for travel. I rock them with almost anything. I especially love to pair them with sundresses as it makes for such cool and effortlessly chic style. I’m a bit obsessed with the way they complement this floral print off-the-shoulder dress from H&M.
I added a pair of hoops and braided hairstyle to the look for some extra points with the cool kids!

THE AFRO-CUBAN LOOK
Can I just say that I LOVE the drama of this entire ensemble. I wore it during another one of our days exploring Havana. The skirt is just so pretty and girly; I wish I could wear it every day! Funny enough, this skirt bares slight resemblance to the style of the Cuban national dress. I received several compliments on the look while wandering through Havana, and I may just be out there somewhere in some random folks’ travel photos.
Besides the fact that head wraps possess a magical ability to transform the simplest of outfits, they also conveniently function as a remedy for dealing with the tropical climate hair struggle. You can never go wrong with including a head wrap or two on your packing list! They can be lifesavers!
And who doesn’t take pineapple sandals on vacation?!
