Island Chic in the Lace-up Trend (Anguilla)

If you follow me on Instagram, or read my Cliffside Brunching post, you already know that I recently visited Anguilla… the place I call home. It was surely good to be home! As cliché as it may be, the saying is true; there’s really no place like home. There’s always something comforting about returning to the familiar.

While in Anguilla, I jumped at the opportunity to work with local photographer Jerome Dupont and use the island’s beauty as a gorgeous backdrop for an island style fashion post. I would have to say that my sense of style is largely influenced by my Caribbean heritage. I love playing with prints and patterns! I love color; the bolder and brighter, the better! I also tend to wear more comfortable, airy and relaxed pieces. To me, the flowy and whimsical vibe of this maxi dress just screams “Island Chic”, and the tie-dyed pattern certainly seals the deal.

I love the addition of the top lace-up detail, which is very much on trend. It adds the right amount of sexy to this “dreamy” number. The dress is so beautiful by itself; it needs very little embellishments. Therefore, I opted for a minimalistic look… barefoot, undone hair, no makeup, just a burgundy lip to complement the darker hue in the ombré design.

The dress is no longer available, but I’ve linked to a few other maxi dresses that also pull off the “Island Chic” look. If you’re planning a tropical island or beach getaway soon, or just want to twirl around town in pretty maxi dresses, be sure to check them out below.
